There are many cow’s alternatives, they are healthier and really delicious, but this banana milk is also cheaper and the kids love it! To make this creamy and sweet milk you only need water and bananas, but you can add other ingredients if you want.
Try to make plant milks at home, they taste better, you can choose the ingredients and they are preservative and additive free. You can find other recipes in the blog, like this almond milk, it has a lot of calcium and it’s one of my all-time favorite drinks.
Plant milks are usually made with cereals or legumes, that’s why I love this recipe, it’s made with fruit, so it has less calories and it’s good for everybody. Don’t use it for cooking, there are so many alternatives. I usually use almond, oat or soy milk.
If you want a light version, make the banana milk using bananas and water, but if you want a tastier milk, add some sweetener. Dates are a great choice, but you can also use other natural sweetener. Avoid white sugar, it’s not good for your health, especially if you consume it very often.
You can add other ingredients, like vanilla, cinnamon or even other spices. Use a bean of vanilla if possible or a natural extract. Store bought extracts are full of chemicals and sugar, so if you want a cheaper version, try this homemade vanilla extract, it’s made with vodka and vanilla beans, it’s not super healthy, but it’s a better choice.
I’ve added ice for a refreshing banana milk, it’s awesome, especially in summer. Here in the South of Spain it’s so hot, sometimes the temperature is over 40ºC/104ºF, so this drink is just perfect! You need only 5 minutes or less to prepare it and you should consume it in 48 hours, but you better drink it freshly made. Cheers!
