How to make chili powder - Step by step
- Combine all the ingredients and mix well (photo 1).
- Store your chili powder in a sealed container (photo 2).
Pro tips
- Feel free to add or omit any spices or herbs you don't like.
- Some people also add salt to the mix.
- Add more or less cayenne pepper depending on how spicy you like it.
- I prefer to use regular or sweet paprika, as I think smoked paprika has a really strong flavor and hot paprika makes the mix too spicy for me, but that's up to you.
- You could only add garlic powder (in that case double the amount), but I like to add onion powder as well.
What is chili powder?

Yes, it can be a little spicy, but as it not only contains hot spices (as it is also made with oregano and cumin), it is not super hot.
How long will this chili powder keep?
You can store it in a sealed container and keep it in a dark, cool place and it will last for up to 1 year.
