Banana ice cream, healthy, creamy, 100% natural, and delicious. To make it you only need 15 minutes and 1 ingredient: frozen bananas.
Oh, this banana ice cream! I can’t really put into words how much I like it. It’s so creamy, tasty, and refreshing I could eat it every day! Besides, it’s 100% natural and made with just frozen bananas.
What’s good about this banana ice cream (also known as nice cream), besides being the healthiest snack ever, is that you can customize it with your favorite toppings. I love to have it with some homemade chocolate syrup and crushed nuts on top.
This little nice cream treat is perfect to enjoy on a hot summer afternoon or to have as a snack or dessert. It’s absolutely affordable and very easy to prepare!
To make it you only need a powerful blender, a few frozen bananas, and 15 minutes of your time. Treat yourself with this refreshing, delicious, and healthy ice cream!
How to make banana ice cream – Step by step
- Cut the bananas into 3 or 4 pieces (photo 1), put them in an airtight container, and freeze overnight (photo 2).
- Add the bananas to your food processor or blender (photo 3) and blend until you have a super creamy banana ice cream (photo 4).
- If your food processor or blender can’t blend the frozen bananas, add a splash of any kind of plant milk (coconut milk, cashew milk, or almond milk work very well for making vegan ice cream).
- Once it’s ready, you can eat it immediately for a soft texture or freeze it until solid.
- Serve with your favorite toppings.
Pro tips
- Feel free to add any other ingredient to customize your banana ice cream however you’d like.
- You could also add some sweetener if you’d like your banana ice cream to be sweeter, although I like it better without it.
How long will this banana ice cream keep?
Make sure to keep it in an airtight container in the freezer and it will last for up to 3 months.
However, if the banana ice cream is too hard when you are going to eat it, you can leave it at room temperature for some time until it softens a little.
How to serve banana ice cream
As this ice cream is made with only 1 ingredient, you can add some toppings to make it even more delicious. For example, you could try it with vanilla extract, peanut butter, homemade chocolate syrup, cocoa powder, or carob powder.
Another option is to incorporate and blend other frozen fruits such as berries or add some peppermint extract, chocolate chips, or coconut butter on top.
You can actually make it with pretty much anything you would normally use to prepare ice cream.
Is banana ice cream healthy?
Of course! This banana ice cream is only made with frozen bananas, so it doesn’t contain any added sugar or sweeteners. It’s actually one of the healthiest and most nutritious kinds of ice cream!

Hi Andrea! I hope you like it 🙂 Have a nice day!
Thanks, you too!
Hi!! I love banana ice cream. I never thought to freeze it after I made it so I’ll give that a try. Sometimes I use a bit of coconut water to get it to blend & that works too. I make it for myself in my mini cuisinart food processor. What kind of food processor did you get that you like so well? Oh – thank you for all of your great recipes. I’m fairly new to plant based eating & your blog has been a huge help!!

Hi Chris! Thanks for your kind words. So glad you liked it 🙂 I’ve made this ice cream using my Vitamix blender and my new Cuisinart food processor and both work, but the ice cream is creamier when I use the food processor!
thank you for the cool recipe. i have a question, can i make this ice cream one night before i eat it?i don’t want it to change the taste of the banana
Hi Hadeel! You’re so welcome 🙂 I’m not sure… I think it’s best freshly made… And it melts really quickly.
Do you know the total volume this recipe yields? i.e. 4 cups or 6 cups etc?
Hi Ali! I’m so sorry, but I don’t know… Have a nice day!
I’ve made it numerous times before coming across this recipe. It’s amazing. I normally add some raw cocoa powder to it and a little almond milk. It definitely tastes like a chocolate frosty from Wendys!

Hi Patricia! Thanks a lot 😀 Sometimes it can be hard to clean the lid, but I use a small butter knife to clean it. Have a nice day!
