First time making it - let the pats soak overnight and used 3.5 cups of water and added vanilla extract. The consistency was good but a bit bland. Will try adding other flavors next time.
Iosune says
Hi Perla! Try to add less water next time or add a pinch of salt and a sweetener of your choice. Hope it helps!

Phytic acid also has considerable health benefits to it - consuming phytic acid ( which is in all nuts ) won’t stop your body from absorbing certain nutrients permanently, as long as you have an otherwise healthy diet .
If you eat a handful of nuts , those nuts will temporarily stop the absorption of certain nutrients as you eat them but it won’t permanently make you incapable of absorbing those trace elements and minerals providing you have a healthy diet otherwise . Phytic acid is useful in cancer treatments etc so I’ve really no idea why you keep insisting on discarding the soaking water . Removing phytic acid doesn’t increase digestibility of the milk but it may improve the texture by washing off excess starch . That’s all.

Hi Kay! Thanks a lot for your comment 🙂 Have a nice day!

Made it and am so chuffed: found a 3kg bag of organic oats for £8.50 and am going to be saving on my shopping as you usually get a 1 L carton for around £1.70 I can make 3 L for around a pound. And I don’t have Tetra Pak cartons adding to my rubbish. I also add Maca powder for extra protein.
Iosune says
Hi Rachel! I'm so happy to hear that 🙂 Have a nice day!

I was excited to see a recipe with no dates or sweetners that yielded a reasonable amount of milk (3 cups) - I only need a little for tea and coffee. just made this & was very satisfied with the results - did not soak my plain rolled oats, blended a couple minutes in my vitamix on high, and poured through a fine-mesh strainer into my milk jug - a very quick-to-make, satisfying and frugal alternative to milk!
Iosune says
Hi Judith! So glad you enjoyed it 🙂 Have a nice day!
Sue Chant says
Good texture but a bit bland tasting. I added some maple syrup to liven it up a bit. Next time will probably incorporate some almonds as mentioned by lapiz above.
Iosune says
Hi Sue! Oat milk is not as tasty as other plant milks, but feel free to add any ingredient you want 🙂
Jo says
Brilliant I've always hated using Tetra packs. This is cheap and better for the planet. Thank you
Iosune says
Hi Jo! You're so welcome 🙂 Have a nice day!
sandra mcnally says
Hi. I use a lot of oat milk so was delighted to find this recipe. I made it but find it’s not as creamy as the commercial one. Would decreasing the volume make it creamier or just thicker.
sandra mcnally says
Sorry, meant to put decreasing the volume of water
Iosune says
Hi Sandra! I'm not sure, I think it should be both, creamier and thicker. It depends on the store-bought oat milk you're used to, mine was as creamy as this one 🙂
Avigail says
I see your links for pulp recipes, but the recipe (at least the cookie one) doesn't call for pulp...what should I substitute the pulp for? It will be wetter than the oat flour...
Iosune says
Hi Avigail! You can adjust the recipe by using some pulp instead of some of the oats in the recipe, then add more or less liquid until you get the perfect consistency. Hope it helps!
FARIDA BANU says
Simply super. Really fantastic.
Iosune says
Hi Farida! Thanks a lot 🙂

Excrllent
Iosune says
Hi Nasir! Thanks a lot 🙂
Freddie says
Followed instructions, soaked for 3 hours. Tasted like cloudy water with no real substance, texture or flavour.
Iosune says
Hi Freddie! I'm so sorry the recipe didn't work for you, but this milk is really tasty. If you tell me more, I could help you. Have a nice day!
lapiz says
I combined the oats with some leftover almonds and the milk turned out great! I suggest using Agave Sweetener instead of sugar because the agave adds a unique taste similar to honey. I have found that it’s better to let the sweetener dissolve in the container for half an hour in the fridge instead of drinking it right away if you want it to taste the same every time. The oat milk was delicious and I am definitely making it again! Thank you.
Iosune says
Hi Lapiz! You're so welcome 🙂 Thank YOU for your valuable comment 🙂
