How to make vegan pizza

  • Preheat the oven to 450ºF or 230ºC. Lightly grease a pizza pan or a baking sheet with olive oil.
  • If you're using a store-bought pizza crust place it onto the prepared baking sheet or pizza pan. If you're using our homemade pizza dough recipe, follow our pizza dough recipe from step 1 to step 10.
  • Brush your pizza with some extra virgin olive oil.
  • Spread the pizza sauce onto the pizza crust.
  • Drop 1 to 2 tablespoon-sized balls of vegan mozzarella onto the crust.
  • Top with the veggies and add the dried oregano.
  • Bake for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Slice your vegan pizza and serve immediately.

Vegan pizza ingredients and tips

Pizza dough: homemade pizza dough is amazing and usually healthier, but the store-bought one is also great.

Pizza sauce: I like to make my own pizza sauce because it's healthier, more affordable, and ready in just 5 minutes, but store-bought pizza sauce is also okay.

It's also delicious with store-bought or Homemade Marinara Sauce!

Vegan mozzarella: feel free to use homemade or store-bought mozzarella. Pretty much any vegan cheese will do, though. You could also add just some nutritional yeast on top just before serving if you're in a hurry.

You could also try to use my Vegan Parmesan Cheese or even my Vegan Cheese Recipe.

Onion and mushrooms: add any veggies you like or have on hand.

Black olives: any type of olives will do. You can also omit this ingredient or add other toppings instead.

Dried oregano: any dried or fresh herbs will do. Basil is also a good choice.

Feel free to customize your vegan pizza with your favorite ingredients. I sometimes add some poultry seasoning, Italian seasoning, chicken seasoning, or any other kind of herbs.

Ingredients

  • ½ batch of homemade pizza dough or 1 store-bought crust
  • ¼ cup pizza sauce
  • ½ batch of vegan mozzarella
  • ¼ onion, sliced
  • 2-4 mushrooms, sliced
  • ¼ cup black olives, chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450ºF or 230ºC. Lightly grease a pizza pan or a baking sheet with olive oil or nonstick spray. You could also line them with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • If you’re using a store-bought pizza crust place it onto the prepared baking sheet or pizza pan. If you’re using our homemade pizza dough recipe, follow our homemade pizza dough recipe from step 1 to step 10.
  • Brush your pizza with some extra virgin olive oil. This step is optional, but it prevents the filling from making your pizza crust soggy.
  • Spread the pizza sauce onto the pizza crust.
  • Drop 1 to 2 tablespoon-sized balls of vegan mozzarella onto the crust.
  • Top with the veggies (onion, mushrooms, and olives), and add the dried oregano.
  • Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Slice your vegan pizza and serve immediately.
  • Keep the leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. Baked pizza slices can be frozen for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize your vegan pizza with your favorite ingredients. I sometimes add some poultry seasoning, Italian seasoning, chicken seasoning, or any other kind of herbs.
  • You can also add any topping you'd like.
  • I like to make my own ingredients, but you could also use store-bought pizza dough, pizza sauce, and any vegan cheese. Just make sure you’re using vegan ingredients.
  • If you’re in a hurry, you could omit the vegan mozzarella cheese and add some nutritional yeast on top of your pizza just before serving.
  • Prep time doesn’t include the time you need to prepare the pizza dough, pizza sauce, and vegan mozzarella.
