Hi! Alberto here again. In case you didn't read the previous post, I'll put you in the picture: Iosune has got a cold and I'm in charge of publishing this week (she made the recipes, not me, so don't worry ?).
I didn't like the idea of writing, it's one thing I was never interested in (I prefer more graphical things like drawing or taking photos). However, I should admit I enjoy doing it now, I think I could get used to it ?. What about you, do you like writing?
Today's recipe is simple, no hassling and you will get an amazing outcome: pancakes! ? In addition, you only need 3 ingredients.
All of the ingredients are pretty common, so you may already have them in your kitchen: banana, oats and oat milk. You only need to blend them and the batter will be ready.
Now you only have to cook the pancakes.
Quick healthy breakfast idea: make your pancakes the day before and re-heat it next morning, then top it with fruit and syrup.
Tips:
- If you haven't oat milk, you can use any other plant milk or water.
- To save time, you can make big batches of pancakes and freeze them.
- If you are in the mood of something savory, you can use this recipe too. Just use add some tomato slices, vegan Parmesan cheese and oregano for topping instead of fruit and syrup.
📖 Recipe
3-Ingredient Vegan GF Pancakes
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- 1 cup instant oats
- ¾ cup plant milk of your choice, we used oat milk
Instructions
- Grind the instant oats in a blender.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.
- Place ¼ cup of the batter in a non-stick skillet (or a lightly greased skillet) and cook for about two minutes for each side.
- Serve with your favorite toppings.

Do you think I can use a hand mixer. I dont have a blender? Hoping to make this tm. Thank you.
Iosune says
Hi Irma! I've never tried it, but I think it could work 🙂
lauren g says
how long can they be frozen for and would you reheat on the pan ?
Iosune says
Hi Lauren! About 3 months or even more. You can defrost them in the microwave or at room temperature and then reheat them on the pan 🙂
Monique Jackson says
I have old fashioned oats, is this the same? Or should I use the quick oats or rolled oats? Thank you for your amazing recipes BTW, you guys are amazing!
Cheers!
Iosune says
Hi Monique! I've never used it myself, but I think it should work 🙂
Monique Jackson says
How much do I need to use of apple sauce if I sub the apple sauce for banana? I'm allergic to banana. Sad story for a plant-based eater!
Iosune says
Hi Monique! About 1/2 cup of applesauce (8 tbsp) 🙂

Yummy, simple and healthy! I am not a great cook so I struggled with getting the pancakes to turn out right, without flopping in the middle. Now I know to heat up the pan then turn it down low enough to cook but not too low. On my gas burner it's about medium-to-low.
Anyway, now I have that mastered, these are a definite regular breakfast item for us!
Thanks so much!
Iosune says
Hi Kate! So glad you liked it 🙂 Have a nice day!
Liza says
These are really good! Though I'm having some problem with frying the pancakes (as I always have). Should I fry them on low medium or high? I never seem to get the proper color?
Iosune says
Hi Liza! The skillet has to be hot and you should cook the pancakes over medium or medium-high heat until they're fully cooked and golden brown. Hope it helps!
CRYSTAL F. says
They were great tried them for the first time. I just turned VEGAN and I like the fact that its only three ingredients. They smell and taste soooooooo good the texture was just right.
Iosune says
Hi Crystal! So glad you liked them 🙂
Kimberly says
Thanks for the recipe! Love that it's soquick and easy. I made them with a ripe banana and regular oats and served with warmed maple syrup, very tasty! I can't wait to try them with berries, too!
Iosune says
Hi Kimberly! You're so welcome 🙂 Sounds great!
Nina says
I just made them and they turned out delicious! I cut up a banana and an apple and roasted it a little and had it with them. Will definitely be making these again!! 🙌
Iosune says
Hi Nina! So glad you liked them 🙂 Have a nice day!
Jeroen says
Hi, I am new here and not at all an experienced cook. I have tried making the pancakes and the last two got stuck to the pan. What heating do you recommend? Low, medium or high? And What type of grease (low on cholesterol)? Thanks!
Iosune says
Hi Jeroen! Use a non-stick pan if you can. When the pan is hot, I cook the pancakes over medium heat. I always use coconut or extra virgin olive oil. Have a nice day!
niunia66 says
I made these with rolled oats and coconut milk for my daughter. They were amazing! Making them again for sure.
Iosune says
Hi there! I'm so glad you liked them 🙂
Sarah Lawrence says
I tried this recipe and it was delicious. I whizzed up some ordinary porridge oats in my food processor to make them into oat flour and then whizzed all the ingredients together. It was a thick mixture but the pancakes came out perfectly. Thank you!
Iosune says
Hi Sarah! Thanks, I'm so glad you liked it. Have a beautiful day!
Michelle says
Hi,
New here looks good I am going to give it a try I am starting to transition to a plant -based diet. I do have a couple of question..can steel rolled oats be used as well and can apples be added along with the banana to make the batter. Thanks
Michelle
Iosune says
Hi Michelle! Yes, you cna used steel rolled oats and also add apples or even applesauce instead of the banana. Have a nice day!
Ron Korec says
Tried these pancakes and they were great. I used quick cooking oats. I also put 1/3 cup of batter in my waffle maker and the waffle was too soft. Do you have any ideas to make this recipe work for waffles?
Iosune says
Hi Ron! Try to add more oats or make our waffle recipe, which is quite similar: http://simpleveganblog.com/vegan-gluten-free-waffles/
Daniel says
