Vegan apple pie, moist, soft, and extremely satisfying. A cozy Thanksgiving dessert that'll comfort everyone. Only 9 ingredients required!

Vegan apple pie, the other main character of your vegan Thanksgiving dinner. It is SO flavorful, delicious, and perfectly sweet. Really one of the most comforting and satisfying desserts I've ever tried.

It gives a wonderful winter vibe to your table and the way the kitchen smells when you bake it... Don't even get me started! It is a decadent dessert that only requires 9 ingredients. I love it!

How to make a vegan apple pie

    • Preheat the oven to 350ºF or 180ºC.
    • Add all the ingredients (except the vegan pie crusts) to a large mixing bowl and mix until well combined.
    • Pour the filling into a 9-inch or 23 cm round pie pan lined with a vegan pie crust.
    • Roll the second vegan pie crust into a round and place it over the pie filling. Fold the excess dough behind the bottom crust then crimp the pie crusts together to seal.
    • Cut a few slits in the middle of the top crust to allow steam to escape. Brush the top of the crust with melted vegan butter or coconut oil.
    • Bake for 50 to 60 minutes.
    • Remove from the oven and let it rest for at least 15 minutes (ideally 1 to 2 hours) to cool slightly before slicing.
    • Serve your vegan apple pie immediately.

    Ingredients and tips

    • Homemade or store bought vegan pie crust.
    • Granny Smith apples: this is my favorite type of apples to make this recipe, but use what you have on hand.
    • Granulated sugar: feel free to use other types of sugar, like brown, coconut or cane sugar. Make sure the sugar you’re using is vegan.
    • All-purpose flour: I’ve only made this vegan apple pie recipe using all-purpose flour, but I think you could also use a different type of flour like this gluten-free flour blend. However, you may need to adjust the amount of it.
    • Coconut oil.
    • Lemon juice.
    • Ground cinnamon.
    • Ground nutmeg.
    • Salt: to make my pie I used iodized salt, but any kind of salt will do.
    • Feel free to serve your apple pie with some other Thanksgiving recipes, such as vegan pot pie, vegan turkey, cranberry sauce, vegan eggnog, or mushroom Wellington.

    Is apple pie vegan?

Apple pie doesn't tend to be vegan, as it usually contains eggs. However, I assure you that everyone will fall in love with this recipe because it's so delicious and worth trying!

Does apple pie need to be refrigerated?

It does not need to be refrigerated. You can store it at room temperature for up to 2 days! However, if you want to keep it for a longer period of time, cover and transfer it to the fridge for about 4-5 days.
