    Ingredient notes

    • Apples: feel free to prepare your applesauce recipe with any type of apples (gala, granny smith, honey crisp, golden delicious, fuji, etc). You can either peel them or not, it’s up to you!
    • Brown sugar: you can add any kind of sugar to your homemade applesauce, or even maple syrup.

    Dietary variations

    • Make it sugar-free: if you prefer unsweetened applesauce, feel free to omit the sugar. It will be delicious as well!
Step-by-step photos of how to make Instant Pot applesauce

How to make Instant Pot applesauce

    • Add all the ingredients into the Instant Pot and stir.
    • Place the lid on your Instant Pot, set the valve to the "sealing" position, press the "pressure cook" or "manual" button, and set the pressure to high. Then cook for 5 minutes.
    • Natural release for 10-15 minutes and then carefully move the valve to the "venting" position to let the pressure release completely.
    • Remove the lid from the Instant Pot and use a potato masher to break up the applesauce.
    • Use your Instant Pot applesauce immediately.

    How to store

    • Fridge: keep the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
    • Freezer: feel free to keep it in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge.

    Serving suggestions

    • Feel free to spread your Instant Pot applesauce over your morning toast (see our vegan bread or gluten-free bread recipes), waffles, or pancakes. You'll love how the flavors mix!
    • You can also use it as an egg substitute in baking recipes like vegan donuts or vegan oatmeal cookies. A regular egg would be ¼ cup of applesauce (1 tbsp).
