    2-Minute healthy ketchup recipe | simpleveganblog.com #vegan #glutenfree #healthy

I barely ate ketchup when I was a child, except when I ate French fries or burgers in a fast food restaurant, however, Alberto loves it and he could eat ketchup with almost everything.

Many parents use ketchup to get their children to eat vegetables, but ketchup is full of refined sugar, so it's not the healthiest food on the planet.

This healthy ketchup is ready in just 2 minutes, you just need to mix all the ingredients in a bowl! It doesn't taste exactly like store-bought ketchup, but it's so delicious and good for your health.

The "French fries" you can see in the pictures are baked, I avoid fried food because they make me feel sick and I love baked potatoes, they're crispy and really tasty!

You don't have to give up your favorite foods to be healthy, just find healthier alternatives, you're gonna love them!

    Tip:

    • Feel free to use other sweeteners, any other vinegar or your favorite herbs and spices.

Great recipe! Love the overall flavor. Didn’t have onion powder, so I used garlic powder and even added a little cayenne and Tabasco for a kick.

Should this ketchup be stored solely in the fridge? Just curious.

You should try True Made ketchup. It has no corn syrup and half the sugar of regular ketchup. They use a vegetable puree (butternut squash, carrot) to sweeten it and that also adds vitamins. If you really want to make your own at home, I'd take a cue from the True Made label and replace half of the maple syrup (or other sweetener) with butternut squash and carrot puree.

Doesn't "4 tbsp maple syrup" have as much refined sugar as the stored bought kind?

Hi Christopher! Maple syrup is much healthier than white sugar and store-bought ketchup has way more sugar 🙂

It's a myth that maple syrup is healthier than white sugar, people are inclined to think that if a product is more "natural" then it must be better for us. But this is a fallacy, biologically all simple sugars have the same effect on our bodies-- the only difference is the amount of simple sugar in a product. So sure, you can use a little more honey than you can high fructose corn syrup, but that tablespoon of honey and 1/2 tablespoon of corn syrup do exactly the same thing once they're inside your stomach--they're both toxic foods that are linked to increased disease, weight gain, and poor health. Luckily you can make this recipe healthy by omitting the maple syrup and blending the mixture with an apple instead, fruit (even when blended) retains fiber and nutrients that slows the release of insulin and keeps blood sugars stable.

I'm new to plant based eating. This ketchup is super yummy.
I like to take cracker, spread a little raw peanut butter on it and top with a wee dollop of this ketchup.
      To die for!
Or some of your aioli aand the ketcup for oven fries- oil free, I will never eat traditional chips/fries agin.
Love your blog, thanks for the inspiration!

Yes it would work, it is just created a little different than traditional Vinegar... Usually White / Clear, and can involve Alcohol, and be made from bad GMO Corn etc...

Agave can be healthy, it all depends on the producer! And yes, that would definitely work, or Honey, Stevia etc...

Besides anything in the onion family (allergy) and garlic which I use sparingly what else would you suggest to flavor it? Herbs? Thanks

I haven't tried the recipe, but i'm sure it's good, as it looks very simular to one, that i've been using for years!

I make mine thinner, simply by adding Water...

Besides Onion Powder, i also add some Garlic Powder, it gives it a really nice taste as well as smell.

I also give the Pepper Grinder a few spins.
