Vegan Feta Cheese

With this vegan feta, cheese, you won’t miss the real thing anymore. Cheesy and flavorful, it only takes 10 ingredients and just 15 minutes!


  • 12 ounces firm tofu (340 g)
  • ¼ cup lemon juice (60 ml)
  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast (4 tbsp)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted, I used deodorized coconut oil, but any oil will do
  • 2 and ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup water (240 ml), at room temperature
  • 1 tbsp agar powder


  1. Prepare a loaf pan or a dish by spraying with non-stick spray. Set aside. 
  2. Add all the ingredients to a powerful powerful blender except the agar powder and the water and blend until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Mix the water and agar powder in a saucepan until well combined, bring to a boil, and let it boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  4. Incorporate the agar mixture into the blender and blend again until smooth.
  5. Transfer the mixture very quickly to the loaf pan or dish, refrigerate, and leave it to set.
  6. Once the vegan feta cheese has set, transfer to a cutting board, cut it into slices, and then cut the slices into cubes. 
  7. Serve immediately with salads like vegan Caprese salad or over some slices of vegan bread or even gluten-free bread with some black pepper, salt, and olive oil, or with your favorite spices. It is super versatile, so go ahead and get creative!
  8. Keep the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge.        


  • Nutritional yeast gives this vegan feta cheese recipe the cheesy flavor, so it’s an important ingredient. If you can’t find it, you could also use brewer’s yeast instead, but nutritional yeast is the best choice.
  • Pretty much any type of vinegar will work.
  • Prep time doesn’t include the time you need to leave the mixture to set.
