You need to eat healthy if you want to be healthy because we are what we eat, so eat green! To eat enough fruits and veggies is the best way to prevent a cold or the flu, especially in winter when is easy to get sick. This immune booster smoothie is full of nutrients and vitamins and is just perfect to boost your immune system.
Many people don’t eat fruit because they don’t like its taste and they prefer to drink packaged juices, which are full of sugar, additives, preservatives and they haven’t fiber or vitamins because they’re highly processed. If you don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables, you should try smoothies, they’re really easy to make (you only need a blender), are ready in less than 5 minutes and taste amazing. Unlike juices, smoothies retain all the fiber of whole raw fruits and vegetables.
Smoothies are also a great way to fight a cold naturally and they have no side effects. Natural juices work too, especially if they’re made with foods high in vitamin C.
The ingredients I’ve used are really easy to get in winter (except maybe dates in some countries). You only need: oranges, tangerines, kiwis, dates and cinnamon powder.
If you can’t find dates or they’re too expensive in your country, you can remove them or use any other sweetener, although this smoothie isn’t sweet at all, so I recommend you to add something sweet. Ripe bananas maybe could work too.
I usually use water to make my smoothies, but I’ve used orange juice this time because is high in vitamin C. You can also use coconut water, another kind of juice or even any plant milk. Don’t be afraid to make your own recipe, smoothies are always delicious!
If you prefer a green smoothie, add spinach, kale or your favorite leafy greens. If this is your first time, add one or two cups of spinach because they barely add flavor. Drink this smoothie to fill your body with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants! What are you waiting for?
